Tutorial 5 of 6

The Select Tool

The select tool (V) lets you draw a rectangular selection on the canvas. Click and drag to define the selection area. A marching ants animation outlines the selected region. Selections work on any quadrant — threading, tieups, treadling, or drawdown.

Copying a Selection

With a selection active, press Ctrl+C (or Cmd+C) to copy it. The copied pattern goes into a clipboard that you can stamp onto other locations using the stamp tool. This is how you duplicate a motif from one part of your draft to another.

The Stamp Tool

The stamp tool (T) places a pattern onto the canvas. After copying a selection, switch to the stamp tool and click where you want to place it. The stamp previews as you move the cursor so you can position it precisely before clicking to commit.

Browsing the Stamp Library

The stamp tool also has access to a built-in stamp library, available in the Tool Settings section of the properties panel. The library is organized into categories — twill, satin, sateen, texture, basket, and more. Select a stamp from the library and place it on your draft the same way you would a copied selection.

Clearing and Deselecting

Press Delete to clear the contents of the current selection. Press Escape to deselect and dismiss the selection. Deselecting also clears the clipboard.
